Yellow rain in KIO’s Mai Ja Yang in Northern Burma
An unusual yellow rain fell for the second day today in Mai Ja Yang, one of the two major towns under the control of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) in Kachin State, Northern Burma, said residents.
Clear yellow spots marked the ground, were seen on the roofs of houses and tree leaves after the rain stopped, said eyewitnesses and residents.
Till now, the KIO authorities and residents have no clear idea about the yellow spots. They are extremely worried, wondering whether it is acid rain or chemical rain, a resident told Kachin News Group on Monday.
“We have never seen such yellow rain before. We think it could be a fallout of the poison gas from the war zone where the Burmese Army and KIO troops are fighting each other, about 20 miles from here. Burmese soldiers have been attacking KIO with chemical weapons,” a resident said.
The rain fell like paste unlike rain water for two minutes once over 30 square meters and it rained irregularly in the town, said eyewitnesses.
